Breeding in Captivity

  Breeding in captivity

The fate of all mankind

With IUO’s and IRS and even sometimes y

They nail their daily protest on the orbs of

human eyes

They shuffle through the deck for all the lousy hoarded prize

The swiftness of a coroner, pronouncing people dead

To do their deeds in darkness where the bone saw scrapes the head

And mighty swift were warriors but warriors have passed

This is the age of sorcery delights that fade and pass

The scummy crumbs of visciousness where bars hold people back

The screeching streets where metal splays the gullet of the pack

You said we fight for freedom by the Senate pen that blots

And heroin and gasoline have come to mean a lot

The captains crow the dusty chanty hangmen speed aloft

There isn’t any splendor and the grass is never soft

A choking cloud may funnel down while dizzy dervishes

Spin and bop the damn things drop and fade into their fez

The croaker croaks his challenge and the elder pounds his staff

And every time the TV’s on some distant voices laugh

The dam breaks open flooding no one, no one’s living there

They just roll down their windows and pretend there’s lots of air

The mountains lie in angry heaps that batter tender child

The rain will sometimes soothe my soul, but inside I’ve run wild

A pistol cracks in silence in the prison where I work

I am the jailer and I’m much too young for this
