Project Examples

The following are examples of projects created by Hurricane Geographics. Remember that your browser must allow the execution of Java scripts in order to view Google Maps.

SW UTAH AREA PERSONAL WEATHER STATIONS

A very simple example of what can be done with Google Maps. Default map markers are used and navigation control has been disabled. However, the map does feature a custom side-bar menu and custom marker info windows with hyperlinks. This example also illustrates how Google Maps can be integrated into a web page style.

ST. GEORGE, UT GOLF COURSE INFORMATION

A much more complex example of a Google Map. This map features custom markers with info windows that contain links, tables, and pictures. Also included is a side-bar menu, a legend, and an example of a polyline overlay. You can also download a Google Earth version of this map from the web page.

  HURRICANE CITY PLANNING COMMISSION AGENDA

Here is an example of how a municipality can disseminate public information on a web site. Planning Commission agenda items are located on a map of the City of Hurricane. Because Google Maps does not have municipal boundaries built in, a complex polyline overlay was created to outline the City of Hurricane. This map also features a side-bar menu, custom markers and legend in a custom web page.

WASHINGTON COUNTY, UT PROPOSED TRANSPORTATION IMPROVEMENTS

This map was created from a scanned photo. The road polylines were digitized and converted to latitude/longitude coordinates. It displays several polylines in multiple colors. Instead of traditional point markers graphic labels were used to label the transportation features.
